1 About The Symposium
The 18th International Symposium on Loss Prevention and Safety Promotion in the Process Industries is an opportunity to exchange up-to-the-minute information on industrial needs, new technology developments, and research opportunities. The previous events attracted leading Industrialists and Academics from all over the world and provided a state-of-the-art Chemical and Process Engineering.
The Working Party on Loss Prevention and Safety Promotion in the Process Industries (WP Loss Prevention) started in 1971 as a group of very motivated people who decided at the symposium Major Loss Prevention in the Process Industries in Newcastle upon Tyne that an international effort would be necessary.
Since its creation the WP Loss Prevention has held triannual Loss Prevention symposia , which gathers indstrialists, consultants and academics from across the world for 2 day event about the latest developments in technologies related to loss prevention and safety promotion. The active menbers of the WP is the scientific committee for these symposia responsible for review of contributions. In the early nineties on the initiative of the WP Loss Prevention in consultation with CEFIC the European Process Safety Center (EPSC) was established in March 1992. The Technical Steering Committee (TSC) of the EPSC is the central body of expertise, and WP Loss Prevention members are invited to attend TSC meetings.
2 Topics
The following non-exhaustive list of research items, when related to the process industries, are of concern for this Loss Prevention Symposium:
<1> Safety 4.0, AI and digital transformation of industrial processes
<2> Safety in relation to sustainability and resilience in process industry
<3> Safety of decarbonization and energy transition processes
<4> Safety of new materials and technologies
<5> Safety and security of chemical and energy infrastructures
<6> Conventional risk assessment and management approaches
<7> Other process safety topics
Welcome on each of the themes listed above are contributions, validated and applied in academia and/or industry, addressing, e.g., relevant test methods, material properties, accident scenarios, hazard identification methods, multi-risk assessment and resilience of complex systems, climate-related risks, reliability, expert elicitation, causation, simulation and modelling, uncertainty methods, human factors, organizational failures, use of data, failure detection and diagnosis, digital twin risk determination, decision methods, management processes, life cycle and operation, comments on standards, regulatory issues, training and educational issues, economic issues, case histories.
